Community Awareness & Education
This performance area takes the form of established media programs and campaigns. One of the immediate project undertakings in this area is the establishment of “The Foundation FM Radio” as passed by a Resolution No. 04/2020 in an extra ordinary meeting No. 2 of the Board of Directors of AMF held on the 28th October 2020.
The proposed Foundation FM Radio in Maridi is to contribute towards education and awareness in the areas of health, agriculture, community development, life skills development for youths, unity, peace and reconciliation.
The Foundation FM is officially refered to as 99.4 Foundation FM.
The Foundation FM Radio focuses on two program areas and tasks which are:
Awareness through news generation and broadcasting and this entails:
Provision of awareness through generation and broadcasting of local and international news.
Building of a team of news researchers and analysts to assemble news content relevant for community consumption and awareness.
Dissemination of information to reach out to the remote areas of the country. This is extremely important because of the fact that there are severe infrastructural challenges which have often cut off many communities from public information.
Awareness through dissemination of skills and knowledge and this entails:
Provision of education awareness through conducting objective, rigorous and timely knowledge dissemination that respond to the needs of the community.
Provision of community awareness in the areas of health, life-skills development, production (agriculture etc), peace building and reconciliation and many others
Provision of customized or tailors made broadcasted training courses to the benefit of students. The main areas of focus in such through radio training are liberal and multicultural education; proficiency in selected disciplines; understanding of organizational dynamics; skills in critical thinking; and competence in interpersonal skills. Such programs are designed to equip students to face and manage the complex, demanding and ever changing national, regional and international arena.
This FM radio services for organised media campaign is considered the best option not only in informing the public about situations and in publicising the need for socioeconomic transformation but also in generating pressure for rapid actions in the areas of production, innovation etc. The FM radio option is no doubt cost effective in that it reaches out to a wide range of people in both short and far distance at the same time, within a short time, in many languages that the population understands and without additional costs in terms of transportation and time.
The Radio services also assists in the collection, synthesising and dissemination of timely and good quality information. This entails sharing and disseminating examples of good practices in agriculture, innovation, education, health, peace and reconciliation all of which can be replicated on a wider scale. This radio project therefore plays a role in galvanising others into action for sustainable community development towards improved wellbeing.
